Avtex L185DRS - Overview
The Avtex L185DRS 12 volt TV/DVD Combi is one of the latest generation of "Ultra Slim" sets designed and manufactured by Avtex specifically for use in a Boat, Caravan or Motorhome. The key advantage over the sister L185DR model and the significance of the letter "S" is a built-in High Definition Free To Air Satellite Receiver.
Avtex L185DRS - Description
The Avtex L185DRS is one of the first Avtex models with a Triple Tuning System. It has a conventional Multi-standard Analogue Terrestrial Tuner, a DVB-T Digital Terrestrial Tuner for watching "Freeview" in the UK and the Continental equivalent whilst touring Europe and the latest DVB-S2 High Defeinition Free to Air Satellite Receiver. The inclusion of the HD Satellite Receiver allows a wide variety of programming to be watched throughout the UK & Europe by simply connecting a Satellite Dish directly to the L185DRS - no need for an external Satellite box unless you wish to watch SKY whose programmes are encrypted using their propritory encoding system. For the Ultimate Ease of use High Quality viewing experience why not consider adding the Avtex AQF431 portable Automatic Satellite Dish.
The other difference between the L185DR and the L185DRS is the DRS is housed in an "Ultra Slim" style cabinet with a front glass panel as first seen on the larger 21.5" L215DR . The 18.5" & 21.5" Avtex models are supplied mounted on a pedestal. The use of the pedestal allows the TV to be used vertically compared to the smaller 16" sister model the W164DRS that has a detachable rear mounted leg that means it allways has to lean backwards slightly when used freestanding. The pedestal approach gives a better picture when the TV is located relatively high compared to your seating position as in many new Caravans and Motorhomes. The pedestal is detachable and there are standard VESA mounting points for those who would prefer to mount their TV on a bracket.

Please note that the latest generation of TV's are significantly slimmer than previous models. If you intend to mount your L185DRS on a VESA wall bracket please ensure that you use bolts of an appropriate length as using bolts that are too long may damage the TV. We can supply short bolts if required, please contact us.
Avtex L185DRS - Connecting to 12v circuit
The Avtex L185DRS is supplied with a 12v lead terminated in a cigar type plug. The cigar plug houses a glass fuse to protect the TV. If you should need to replace the fuse this can be done by carefully rotating the end of the plug. This plug should not be removed as your TV will not have the protection of the fuse and the warranty will be invalidated. If your vehicle has a different type of socket you should purchase an adapter either from us or your local caravan dealer. Details of our adapters can be found in the accessories section.
When connecting the L185DRS TV you should follow the same safety princple as connecting your hook up lead, when setting up connect the TV end first, wall socket end second. When packing away disconnect the wall socket end first, TV end second. It is also important to completely turn the TV off with the main ON/OFF switch situated on the bottom panel rather than just turning to standby as if the main switch is left "ON" when you next connect the TV there will be a surge of power that may blow the fuse. Whilst the L185DRS only uses a small amount of power in standby, turning the main switch "OFF" will also save your valuable battery power when rallying / wild camping.
